Under the Governor Schwarzenegger's leadership, and now, the newly elected Governor Jerry Brown, California has balanced the need to clean up our air, water and land with promoting economic growth.  California has put forward the first low carbon fuel standard in the world, strongly supported lowering vehicle emissions, preserved thousands of acres of the state's beautiful parks and coastline, invested record resources into clean technology and alternative energy innovation and implementation, and worked with lawmakers to take on climate change through the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006.  Governor Brown has long recognized that environmental protection and economic development go hand in hand and he will continue to promote both as Governor[1].  Certified Ad Services works to support this initiative.

Certified Ad Services is committed to a healthy environment.   We are a double certified commercial printing company with certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI®).  These organizations set high standards to ensure forestry is practiced in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable way.  To maintain certification an annual onsite audit is done to ensure Chain-of-Custody procedures are followed for the handling, processing, and labeling of certified forest products.  This allows our clients to incorporate the FSC or SFI logo on printed materials; demonstrating that they have followed a strict standard of compliance.

Certified paper is handled in an environmentally friendly manner through each manufacturing step.  We support the chain of custody in tracking specific paper stocks.  The processes used in maintaining a connection with the forests that produce the raw materials that are used in our final product is a key in keeping our environment clean and healthy - from the forest to the mills to Certified Ad Services to our customers, ensuring responsible management of the environment and sound business practice.

At Certified Ad Services we constantly look for new ways to conserve and promote environmental stewardship.  We are committed to managing our operations in an environmentally sound manner.  Energy conservation, recycling, reduction of waste are methods that we employ to minimize our impact on the environment, these methods include

• PDF proofs are used when applicable (reduces paper usage for hard copies)
• Use of Low Volatile Organic Compounds which meet or exceed California’s standards
• 100% CTP Plates (eliminates the photographic process and its waste stream)
• Printing plates are recycled
• Waste paper, shipping pallets and corrugated material are recycled
• We program building HVAC thermostats to meet or exceed California’s standards.
• Plant lighting uses electronic ballast with long lasting high efficiency florescent bulbs (eliminating HID fixtures where possible)
